King mackerel

Description

Elongated body, dark to olive on back, silver on sides, whitish on bottom, with large uniform teeth on top and bottom jaws.  Typical size is 20-25 pounds, occasionally up to 90 pounds

How to catch

In South Florida, most commonly used technique is trolling at 7-10 knots using a Sea Witch skirt over a bonito strip or dead ballyhoo; drifting live baits and kite fishing also effective.  Most active just after sunrise and just before sundown
