Description
Long slender body, dark blue on top and white belly; tips of dorsal fin is rounded, distinguishing it from the blue marlin which has a more pointed dorsal fin. Upper jaw extends into a spear shape used to stun prey. Can grow up to 9 feet and 180 pounds, with speeds well in excess of 60 mph. Feed during the day and near the surface, main diet consisting of bait fish and squid

Trolling dead baits at 8-10 knots or speed trolling lures at 15 knots; 30 pound main line, 50 pound fluorocarbon leader, 7/0 in-line circle hook
