HOW IT WORKS

Fishing is a passion of mine, and as I’ve gotten older I found it even more rewarding to take others fishing. I prioritize putting you on fish by taking you fishing at the peak feeding times, which changes daily. Simply pick a day you want to go saltwater fishing, and I’ll give you the best time(s) for that day based on factors such as weather, tide, wind, and targeted species. Throw in my years of experience and knowledge in fishing South Florida, and you’ve increased the odds of a successful fishing trip significantly!

The Factors

Tide

Tide is a vertical measurement of water, with usually 2 high tides and 2 low tides each day; the best inshore time to fish is 2 hours before the high and low tides.

Current

Current is a horizontal measurement of water; the presence of a current is the best time to fish whereas a slack current is the worst time to fish; the direction and speed of the current are also important factors in determining best times to go fishing

Moon Phase

The gravitational force of the moon is what drives tides, with the best days to fish coinciding with the moon phases that have the strongest forces on tides

Wind

Obviously, high winds can cause rough seas that make it too dangerous to go fishing, but the direction of the wind is also important. For example, an east wind in Boca Raton helps push blue water and sargassum closer to shore, bringing with it pelagic species like mahi mahi, tuna, and wahoo, while a north wind travels in the opposite direction of the gulf stream’s natural flow, causing rolling swells on the ocean surface.

Weather

Do you need to bring sunblock, rainwear, or a sweater? Other factors in the weather that also help us prepare for a day of fishing is the water temperature, barometric pressure, and humidity.
